Dancers Camping

The 2nd annual dance campout is coming up, so I thought I’d write a little bit about last year. All of us love the idea of being outside and spending time together! What could be better than a campout, right? Okay, it’s not real camping it’s in a backyard, with a pool, but still we’re outside in a tent, right? Well, we tend to forget about what actually ends up happening when dancers campout.  This is how it usually goes.
1.       We get all excited and bring our bathing suits along with a bunch of food!
2.       We are all prepared and have 2 BIG tents, (there are 10 or more of us)
3.       Everyone watches as I make guacamole
4.       Everyone attacks guacamole
5.       Everyone is sad when it is gone
6.       Set up tents
7.       Are proud of ourselves for setting up tents
8.       Attempt to play Marco Polo in the pool, but no one wants to get in/ get their hair wet
9.       Go inside and make shirts
10.   Remember that the shirts have to dry and only complete one side
11.   Forget that the dog sleeps in the basement where the shirts are drying
12.   Put the shirts on tables
13.   Go outside because we’re camping
14.   Remember that there are bugs outside
15.   Go inside the tent to get away from the bugs
16.   Remember that it’s hot outside
17.   Complain all night about how hot it is, but refuse to leave the tent because of the bugs
18.   Play who, what, when, where, and why
19.   Complain about heat some more
20.   Play would you rather
21.   Decide that everyone’s going to sleep in one tent because you want to be together
22.   Complain about heat and how much we are sweating
23.   Play never have I ever
24.   Remember that we suck at never have I ever
25.   Elyse decides to take her pants off
26.   We see that she has shorts on
27.   A bug flies into the tent
28.   We manage to smash the mosquito, but there is a blood stain on the tent wall
29.   We decide that the blood came from Hannah
30.   Various random things are said, like “boxes are fun to play in”
31.   Stay up until 4 o’clock because it’s too hot to sleep
32.   Sleep practically on top of each other, because you want to sleep in the same tent (I’m not kidding I shared my pillow)
33.   Wake up a 7:00 because it’s getting hot again
34.   Eat breakfast inside
35.   Try and close the tent
36.   Give up and just shove what we can in the tent bag.
37.   Go home and sleep all day
Even though we aren’t the best campers we still manage to have fun! The campout is the best and most looked forward to company get together of the year!
